Learn How to Use the Oxytec-5S

Learn how to use the Oxytec-5S, from the precautions before use to how to set it up.

The Oxytec-5S is an advanced oxygen delivery system that provides its users with a higher standard of care and a reliable, convenient source of oxygen for therapy needs. Designed by expert oxygen concentrator manufacturers, it is a portable solution for patients requiring high and low-flow oxygen therapy, only a little bigger than a computer monitor. Using them is as simple as plugging them into an electrical outlet or using a battery. Because of this, they are suitable for many types of living situations, including in-home, nursing homes, hospitals, clinics, and assisted living facilities. Suitable for adults and children, it provides pure oxygen up to 93% (+ or - 3%) and flow rates of 1 - 5 liters per minute.

However, it is crucial to know how to use the Oxytec-5S to get the best results.

Precautions before use:

You must follow these precautions before use for your safety.

Must be prescribed by your physician:

To determine whether one might need a portable oxygen concentrator at home, a blood test is done to check levels accurately, but a full oxygen assessment is usually required as well. A normal blood oxygen level varies between 75 and 100 millimeters of mercury (mm Hg). Only people with chronically low levels of oxygen in their blood will be prescribed home oxygen, depending on a doctor’s decision and the individual case. Treatment aims to try to raise blood oxygen levels back to normal.

Must be used according to the user’s manual:

We have precautions in place for a reason. Reading over the user’s manual and ensuring that you are following every procedure is crucial for safe use.

Cannot be used within 5 feet (or 1.6 meters) of hot or flammable objects:

Oxygen concentrators produce pure oxygen, and oxygen is flammable. Because of this, it is important to follow this safety precaution. If you do so, the risk of fire when using an oxygen concentrator at home is close to zero. Oxygen concentrators are not more flammable than oxygen bottles, especially when taken care of properly.

Do not use aerosol products in the same room as your oxygen concentrator; items like air fresheners and room sprays are highly flammable. This extends to flammable liquids like gasoline cans for barbecues. On top of that, do not keep your oxygen concentrator nearby open flame sources, such as lit cigarettes.

Replace filters once a year or after 3000 working hours (whichever is earlier):

You need to keep the filters clean so that the machine will continue working properly. In our oxygen concentrator, this filter is easy to remove from the machine and easy to clean. Device filters, compressors, and bacterial filters are located in the cabinet in the back.

How to set up the Oxytec-5S:

  1. Fill in the humidifier bottle with distilled water (200 milliliters) between the min/max indicators on top of the bottle.
  2. Gently screw the humidifier bottle to the machine’s outlet.
  3. Attach the canula to the humidifier's outlet.
  4. Put the other end of the cannula over the ears and into the nostrils. The humidifier bottle and cannula should not be used for more than 4 months.
  5. Use the on/off switch to turn on the concentrator, and use the flow meter to set the required flow rate. Do not pass 5 liters per minute.
